Maintenance Technician Apprentice

Goonhilly Earth Station Apprenticeship 1 Year Goonhilly, Cornwall, UK

Job Description

Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station is located on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, UK. It’s famous for many reasons, but perhaps most notably, for receiving the first even trans-Atlantic satellite TV images, broadcast by Telstar, on 11 July 1962.

Goonhilly Earth Station is set for a transformation to a new Space science centre by a new company Goonhilly Earth Station (GES) Ltd. Goonhilly is already open for commercial business, and is fully operation as a satellite communications teleport.

Goonhilly Earth Station carries business internet data, and also is used as a command and control centre gateway for controlling various satellites.

The Maintenance Technician Apprentice will report to the Estate Manager, who will assign duties on a daily basis, in the context of providing a broad range of experience through on site working Maintenance and Estate Management Systems. This will involve both routine, and hoc and upskilling activities.

As part of the learning process, at an early stage, individuals will be tasked with delivering a long term project in their specialised fields, with the support of the Estate Manager.

Once completed the level 3 apprenticeship, the right candidate could possibly be offered a permanent job.
