Postdoctorate Position 2 years Gif-sur-Yvette, France
Uploaded 4 Aug 2019
The Star Formation Group of the Astrophysics Laboratory (AIM) at CEA Paris-Saclay invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position to work primarily on the filamentary structure of molecular clouds in the context of the ongoing ESO large program CAFFEINE with the ArTéMiS submm continuum camera on the APEX telescope. The project is undertaken in the framework of a wide collaboration including Cardiff University, IAP Paris, and LAM Marseille.
The successful applicant will work with Dr. Philippe André (AIM) and Dr. Hélène Roussel (IAP Paris) on the scientific exploitation of the CAFFEINE project, using ArTéMiS and Herschel dust continuum data, high-resolution follow-up observations with ALMA and/or NOEMA, and complementary molecular line observations with APEX and IRAM. The successful applicant is also expected to work on optimizing the data reduction of ArTéMiS maps by helping to develop a new method to process ArTéMiS and Herschel data jointly.
Applicants should submit a CV, a list of publications and a brief statement of research interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to [email protected] Applications received before 1 October 2019 will receive full consideration, but the search will continue until the position is filled. The appointment is for two years, starting as early as 1 November 2019, but no later than 1 April 2020. It includes full benefit.
We invite applications from scientists with a PhD in astrophysics and a good background in star formation and/or molecular cloud studies. Experience in sub-mm continuum data processing and/or polarimetry will be an asset.
