Job Description

What We Do
Information Systems and Services(ISS) is a vital part of the UK Defence effort. We deliver information capabilities to the Armed Forces, with a scope that includes everything from digital, cyber defence, artificial intelligence, data protection and operating complex IT systems to military radios, military satellites and information security. With an annual operating budget in excess of £2Bn and a fantastic diverse team of 2,500 military, civilian and contractors operating across the UK and worldwide, it is a great time to be an information professional in UK Defence! If you can see yourself contributing to the world of Defence ICT we could have the next exciting career opportunity for you.

About The Role
Supporting all areas of Defence, the Programmes and Projects that ISS are responsible for range from short term, fast paced and complex operational communications services projects through to large scale programmes that can take many years to complete. Working with industry and sometimes international partners, ISS Project Delivery Professionals undertake some of the most challenging activities in the procurement and support of military capability.

As a C2 Project Manager, you will have an excellent opportunity to develop and improve your project management skills in a challenging technological environment. Depending on where you are deployed, you will work in project management across different stages of the project lifecycle from inception through to in-service and termination, contribute to the delivery of projects to a variety of different end users with differing needs and be exposed to and make use of the wide variety of tools and techniques used by MOD to deliver services to the end user. Successful candidates are likely to be responsible for delivering components of larger projects or programmes or be personally responsible for delivering smaller projects. These will provide significant challenges to individuals both in terms of developing their technical competences as project professionals but also their leadership and management skills in a high tempo organisation that operates at the cutting edge of what is technologically possible in the civilian and military information and communication technology space.
To do this, you must demonstrate, both in your written application and at interview, knowledge and experience of using project management processes, methods, techniques and tools at the standard required by APM PFQ, demonstrating a successful track record in the delivery of complex projects.
The individuals in these roles will be required to support differing projects depending on the business needs and due to the nature of the business, all roles may be subject to additional tasking from time to time as required by function and line management in support of our ‘agile resourcing’ approach.

Dependent on the ‘tasking’ and business need, there may be a requirement to travel to meetings within the UK or overseas

ISS Project Delivery Professionals can benefit from access to a wide range of professional development opportunities subject to business and personal developmental need.

About the Project Team
