Job Description

The Propulsion Systems department at OHB System AG in Bremen is looking for an Intern for Tool development and analysis process optimisation. 

Your Tasks

OHB is using both chemical and electric propulsion systems for the orbit control of our spacecrafts. To enable a proper seizing and design of these propulsion systems and to assess their interaction with the overall satellite system, the propulsion department of OHB uses several different analysis tools for the system prediction. These tools are partly in-house developments and undergo continuous advancement, adaption and validation to serve the needs of the on-going satellite projects and to improve the engineering workflow. Your tasks will be:

  • Get familiar with the plume impingement topic for EP
  • Stabilize numerical performance of the openPlumeEP
  • Validate results with experimental and in-orbit data
  • Apply new version for OHB satellites projects
  • Automatize the work and make the analysis process (geometry, meshing, calculation) easier
  • Work in an international and interdisciplinary team within the Propulsion department

Duration: 4-6 months

Person Specification

Your Qualifications

  • Studies with an applied mathematics fields with focus on numerical analysis or related
  • Programming and coding, machine learning, optimization are necessary
  • Experience with simulation tools CAD programs and meshing tools (plasma dynamics, Rhinoceros, gmsh) are a plus
  • Analytical and independent working spirit
  • Good English skills both written and spoken
