We are searching for a fabulous, new part time science presenter
Explorer Dome presents lively, interactive, hands-on science shows touring schools, festivals and events across the South West, South, East, Midlands and beyond. We have a fleet of 6 portable planetarium domes and a fantastic team of professional science presenters working together to bring science alive to over 50,000 people every year. We’re looking for new presenters to join our team, so if you’re passionate about Space science, education and would enjoy touring the country inspiring young minds about the wonders of space and the world around us then we’d love to hear from you.
Who are we looking for?
- We are looking for engaging and exciting science communicators with a passion for the value of education, a flair for performance and the energy and enthusiasm to work in science outreach and enjoy life on the road
- You must have held a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months
- A science degree in a related subject (e.g. astronomy) is preferable but not essential, however you will need a good general knowledge of the sciences and the ability to communicate it to a general audience
- Experience working in schools or with children is also an advantage, as is any performance/presenting experience, although not required
We look forward to welcoming applications from a wide range of people of all ages, genders, backgrounds, experiences and academic history. Please browse our shows and the bespoke events we provide and download this Job Description for a little more detail about day-to-day activities and pay.
How do I apply?
Please email Ben with your CV and a covering letter telling us about you and your experience. Please include any background you have in science, working with children or with schools and any presenting or performing experience you have. Please confirm you have a full UK driving licence, your availability for work, why you want to work with Explorer Dome and anything else you think we should know. We look forward to hearing from you!
Pay: £80-£100/day for new presenters, but we’d also be happy to hear from more experienced science communicators.
