Job Description

What you’ll be doing

Lead the mechanical and thermal development of a variety of nanosatellite systems and associated ground support equipment for testing. Focus will be primarily on development of a Thermal Management System and a Flocking Module, the latter of which includes inter-satellite communications, ground-link, ADCS, propulsion, and autonomy subsystems. Depending on skillset, this will involve computer aided-design, generation of BOMs and production of engineering drawings, mechanical analyses (vibration, modal, etc.) and thermal analyses, and verification of simulation against test results.

Mediocre engineers don’t make great companies. Our bar is very high. You’ll be joining the “special forces”, an exceptionally high-calibre team. We’re looking for fantastic technical talent with a can-do attitude. Industry experience will help, but is not a requirement. Ideally, we’re looking for someone with a strong background as a design engineer and analyst.

This manifests itself as a small plug-in module for the satellite that fills the technology gap between operations of a single satellite and operations of a flock. Flocking is highly relevant to most existing markets, many emerging markets, and is a key-enabler in several markets that want to exist. We’ve secured the finances to take us to flight-ready.

Person Specification

Essential skills

Strong and demonstrable experience in MATLAB, SolidWorks and FEMAP. Comprehensive understanding of design-for-manufacture best practises. High competency in generation of engineering drawings. Strong theoretical background in Finite Element Analysis.

Nice to have’s

Any background in the development of thermal management systems for electronics, EMC, and design for the radiation environment. Active knowledge of the global space industry.
