Job Description

Salary: IRO £21-27,000 dependent on experience 

Term: 2 year fixed with view to make permanent

Start Date: Before 6th September 2021

Craft Prospect is looking for a technician or engineer with a background in electronics and/or mechanical systems to support the company in day to day engineering activities. You will work with engineers at the company in support of our varied portfolio of projects including highly secure space telecommunications and development of more autonomous smart satellites. We will look to you to manage the assembly, integration and testing of electronics for our space systems within a clean room environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of our assembly & integration facilities 
  • Conduct test campaigns under the direction of lead engineers 
  • Small scale production runs of hardware projects 
  • Soldering and rework to IPC standards 
  • Input into the design for assembly/test of space payloads

Expected Grade: Graduate Associate | Associate

(0-3 years+ industry experience)

Location: Glasgow, UK

Note: although COVID means some of the work may be performed remotely, it is highly likely work within the company office will be required from the outset given the hands-on nature of the role.

Person Specification

Prerequisites

  • Experience hands-on assembly and testing of engineering products 
  • Soldering of electronics to a high standard in clean environment 

Preferred

  • IPC or equivalent soldering qualifications 
  • Able to use common mechanical and electronic test and manufacture tools 
  • Hands-on experience of environmental testing 
  • Understanding of space testing approaches 
  • Ability and initiative to work autonomously 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Desire to work in SME environment and positively contribute to culture
