Job Description

Magdrive is looking to hire a space mechanisms engineer to help develop a revolutionary, next-generation spacecraft propulsion system. The Magdrive propulsion system delivers extraordinary efficiency with unmatched thrust to enable new capabilities for spacecraft and enable entirely new industries in satellite servicing, orbital assembly and interplanetary transport. 

You will play a pivotal role as one of the first employees of Magdrive, which brings high levels of freedom, responsibility and potential for career growth. The solutions you develop will directly shape the development of the Magdrive propulsion system and have a significant impact on the future of space travel. You will help to develop the propellant management and injection system. This will require novel approaches in design, use of materials, and rapid hands-on prototyping. 


  • Lead the design, procurement and assembly of space mechanisms (with a combination of mechanical and electrical components) 
  • Rapidly prototype propellant management and injection systems  
  • Assisting in development of other components and experimental hardware  


  • Salary £30k - £50k per annum (DOE)

Person Specification


  • Higher degree in engineering, robotics or similar (MSc or PhD)
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and hardware development
  • Hands on approach to developing new technology and systems
  • Passion for space travel and for taking a bold approach to a transformational technology
  • Fast and effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills


  • Experience with CAD (Solidworks or other)
  • Experience working with space hardware and mechanisms
  • Experience with additive manufacturing
  • Knowledge of electric and chemical spacecraft propulsion
