Job Description

We are Satellite Applications Catapult, a growing innovation and technology organisation who are looking for passionate people to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to work with us as a Data Entry Assistant on a part time temporary basis. You will be working 2.5 days from October until December with our International Business Analyst to populate a database of companies that will continue to form the basis of a UK Space Capabilities Catalogue at the Catapult (this will form a snapshot of the size, health, and geography of space-related activity in the UK).

The role will require the individual to review content across a wide-ranging variety of online sources (e.g., websites, LinkedIn, marketing material, Companies House, etc.) to create and update succinct summaries of an organisation (in effect - a profile) and their associated products and services. You will also gather data from Companies House to fill several fields including Employee Numbers and Turnover, Balance Sheet Statements, Export Figures, Sic Codes, and addresses (fields may change as required).

The successful applicant does not need to have a background in the Space Sector. However, knowledge of the space sector would be advantageous as well as they will require an analytical mind to access, review, collect, and collate information in a structured and accurate manner, to create a trusted summary of an organisation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Scanning through materials to identify pertinent information
  • Entering and updating existing data when necessary
  • Verify data by comparing sources
  • Entering new data to build a complete and accurate dataset of additional organisations to the Capabilities Catalogue
  • Retrieve data from databases as requested
  • Undertake small research activities as required

Person Specification

Skills & Experience required: 

  • Computer literacy 
  • An ability to work to deadlines 
  • An ability to work quickly, but without mistakes 
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, etc.) 
  • Good command of English, both oral and written 
  • Inquisitive and committed – If the data sought is not immediately available, be willing to explore options to find and record the source of the required information 
  • Delivery accuracy – Success of the outcome is based on the quality of the data 
  • Great attention to detail 
  • Ability to concentrate for lengthy periods and perform accurately with speed 
  • Able to think independently to complete a given task
