About The Role

Our IT Graduate Programme is a two year programme, in which you will be able to expand on the skills and knowledge gained through your degree, whilst having the opportunity to be mentored on-the-job by some of our most experienced employees. The Business Systems Developer Graduate will gain experience through developing solutions for use across the Enterprise and within specific areas of the business. 

During the programme you will get the opportunity to gain an understanding and knowledge of; 

  • Develop, Deploy and Support a wide range of applications 
  • Writing software, documentation and operating manuals 
  • Researching and examining current systems and consulting with users 
  • Testing and modifying systems to ensure that they operate reliably 
  • Is capable of working without supervision, and can take responsibility for deliverables 
  • Where necessary, provide support to the Service Desk and Infrastructure Teams team to help resolve technical problems 

Person Specification

The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Competent problem solving / troubleshooting skills
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative and in a busy environment
  • Able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Display logical and analytical skills

Applications from graduates in the following subjects and disciplines are encouraged:

  • Computing, Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent, or studying for other computing qualifications an advantage

 Knowledge in the following areas would be an advantage: 

  • Microsoft and Linux OS’s 
  • Exposure to Software Development processes (Rapid, TDD, Staged Delivery etc.) and knowledge of the full software development lifecycle 
  • Web Development technologies: HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework/ORM 
  • Experience with some of the following languages: TCL/TK, Perl, VB, Linux scripting, C#, VB.Net
