Head of Data Management Solutions

An exciting opportunity for the Head of Data Management Solutions has arisen within Intelligence UK. You will be reporting into the Head of UK Programmes Delivery and will have responsibility to secure growth of the Intelligence customer base and customer loyalty in this area by ensuring excellence in project / service delivery.

You will be joining a large UK Intelligence department (70+) and looking after a team of 19 people whilst working cross site and business with other department Managers.

The role is fully accountable on behalf of UK Programmes Delivery to manage and deliver key strategies, build for the future and high-level customer interaction both internally and externally. You will be responsible for supporting relevant technical managers, shaping planning, team development, budget adherence and ensuring achievement of deliverables within the group.

The role is responsible for the integrity and performance of the data solutions delivered Intelligence UK to its customers and is also responsible for the development of the competences within the organisation.

Person Specification

We are looking for people with the following skills / experience:

Proven leadership skills to direct, motivate and engage multidisciplinary teams accountable for the achievement of business and individual targets. Ideally sizes over 10 people.

A background in Technology – Engineering, Geospatial, Software, Architecture, Data and similar

A strong understanding of the approaches and techniques needed to develop the skills, competencies and the effectiveness of technical teams full of techies and geeks

Logical and analytical skills, able to visualise the end-to-end process

Excellent planning and organisational skills

An ability to challenge the status quo and propose alternative approaches

To be diplomatic and confidential in the handling of information

To champion continuous improvement and change management, excellent organisational skills

An ability to be autonomous at a high level, open minded with a proactive approach towards work and problem resolution

To be an excellent communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in any environment. Competency at delivering oral and written communication at all levels in English

An understanding of financial management of projects, bids and business cases.

A strong emphasis on data management, digital solutions, integration, high availability and resilience.

A understanding of how to promote different ideas and processes to people of different backgrounds and technical standing


As a Head of Data Management Solutions your day-to-day will be:


Supporting the growth of data management solutions and services through internal initiatives and identifying new business opportunities

Analysing strengths and weaknesses of strategic plans, propose improvements and manage change in line with the organisational vision

Maintaining regular contact with customers to keep them aware of business developments and seek feedback from them so the company can effectively implement a programme of continuous improvement

Working with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery and to communicate a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities.

Providing Risk and Opportunity management

Developing and implementing policies to recruit and retain the required levels and quality of staff to ensure that planned changes are effectively implemented and business objectives met

Financial governance and accountability (budget provision and forecasting)

Preparing and managing the development process, coaching and teaching for talents within the team

Maintaining awareness of any possible threats to the business (i.e. BREXIT)  and develop policies and processes that will provide for such contingencies

Leading by example with focus on transparency, speed of decision making empowerment and trust

Work within and promote an Agile environment

Demonstrating commitment to Ethics and compliance through leadership communication and training

This role comes with some travel and mainly UK based but may require infrequent trips to other Airbus sites (UK and abroad).
