Job Description

To organise, plan and execute system, sub-level system and component testing as part of the verification and validation activity within the Reaction Engines SABRE demonstration programme.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • To plan the development tests for system & sub-system components of the SABRE engine
  • To assist the sub-system teams with the conceptual design of any test article
  • To liaise with the Design Office to generate manufacturing drawings for any test article, rig and related equipment
  • To execute internally run experiments in conjunction with the Technical Support Team
  • To liaise with external contractors on behalf of Reaction Engines to support the design, manufacture, assembly and commissioning for any test article, rig and related equipment
  • To collate data from tests, analyse and produce reports in conjunction with the Performance Department (as required).
  • Work flexibly and dynamically with the subsystems team, development team and across other REL teams as required

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in leading or supporting product or technology development programmes, ideally in Aerospace
  • Track record of delivery

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of both mechanical and/or electrical engineering in order to assist with all aspects of development test planning is essential
  • Knowledge and experience in at least some of the below areas is desirable:
  • High pressure fluid control systems
  • Cryogenic (gas and liquid) feed systems
  • Electrical control systems
  • Rotating machinery maintenance
  • Systems engineering principles and practices
  • Aerospace grade material handling and processing
  • High temperature combustion systems is desirable
  • Product Design and Development
